Overview

A nice descent, a little too much pavement, some fun singletrack climbing to the rock, descending through some tight twisty turns, some gravel road leading to a long grind and then a final descent and tough singletrack climb out to the Laguna Seca Raceway.

Need to Know

Turn by turn instructions will be posted on the Sea Otter Site one week before the race. Also, keep in mind that the course may change at the last minute due to race day conditions.

Description

This years course starts out on the Laguna Seca Raceway, heads out onto Barloy Canyon road for a little and then up to the top of Lookout Ridge Road. As usual the course takes you down Lookout Ridge Road. For the Cat 3 riders this year after a little to much pavement you get to do the full 49 to the rock and down the other side through some tight twisty turns. At the bottom you'll hit the road and loop around past the feed station and start your climb back to Laguna Seca via the grind (Pilarcitos Canyon Road). Of course, just when you think youre done climbing, youll get diverted on Skyline Road for a bonus loop to drop down into Coach Canyon on trail 47 and do the final climb out to Laguna Seca.

History & Background

This mountain bike racing event has been going on since 1991, was named the Sea Otter Classic in 1993 and is regarded as the worlds premier cycling festival. It's a big deal.
