Overview

This is a great ride that takes anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5 hours. It has a little of everything from buff singletrack, to creek crossing, to fast doubletrack. Whether to ride it clockwise or counter-clockwise is personal preference. For the first time up, I recommend riding it counter-clockwise.

Take the West Fork Road towards Red Lodge Mountain. At 2.7 miles, turn left at the fork, continuing up the West Fork another 1.5 miles. Turn left and park at the Silver Run Trailhead.

Description

To begin the ride, start pedaling up the Silver Run Trail #102 and keep left at every fork (this will involve riding spur trail #102A). You'll cross a bridge that goes over Ingles Creek. Once across the bridge, you'll see a climb that goes up to the left. Take it - this is Ingles Creek Trail #35.

The climb has a few switchbacks at the beginning, all of which are rideable. Challenge yourself to ride them all! Once past the switchbacks, the climb mellows with many creek crossings. Once the climbing is done, you'll come to a "T" junction with Silver Run Plateau Trail #64. Head left. Going right will take you on the plateau (more climbing).

Now comes the descent... hold on!!! This portion of Silver Run Plateau Trail #64 is steep and rowdy. You'll descend roughly 900 vertical feet in just about a mile! Eventually, the trail will turn into Silver Run Road, a fast, primitive doubletrack that will bring you back to Silver Run Trail #102.

Once completed and if you're still feeling good, the 4 loops of the Silver Run Trail are a great bonus!!
