This trail begins in Hermit Park Open Space at a large trailhead located at the end of the main road within the park. Hermit Park is managed by Larimer County and they charge their daily use fees ($6) or you can also purchase their annual pass ($75) which would get you access to here as well as some other really good places to ride (Horsetooth Mountain Park, Blue Sky
Trailhead, among others).
The first half of the trail is a gravel road that provides access to a couple of Hermit Park cabins which are available to rent. At the end of the gravel road, the singletrack begins. It leads you into the woods and up the side of a hill. This uphill has some logs laid across it that act as water breaks and some of them may pose a challenge to get your bike up and over, but its all rideable. The trail has many loose grapefruit-sized rocks to look out for.
After winding your way through the woods a bit, the trail terminates by dropping sharply down to Road 120
. This descent to Road 120
is highly technical and will probably be very challenging for most.
