A stellar above treeline ride with views to both sides of the divide.

Overview

Early summer may still have snow at this elevation.

Description

A quick, moderate climb up an old doubletrack leads you out of the trees. Here, the doubletrack primarily fades to singletrack as you traverse a high alpine meadow and the views to the south are dominated by Winter Park Resort, Byers Peak, and the Fraser Valley.

Further ahead, a quick set of switchbacks takes you around a corner and now the views are dominated by James Peak and surrounding terrain. The final push up to the pass is fairly easy, except for the thin air at this elevation. From the top of the divide, you can see South Fork Ranch Creek on the west side, and South Boulder Creek on the east side.
