“The South Loop of Columbia City's Morsches Park; A good mix of fast flats and quick climbs/descents.
— Kyle Pattison
A nice trail with a couple of options. The main South Loop ("Green") trail dives into woods with a quick climb. At the top of the hill, the rider has the option for a more challenging technical section, Twister
("Red"), to the left or continuing for a quick descent onto the flats.
("Red") technical section includes a 2' drop over some tree roots about 50 yds into the option - be sure to stay in the back seat.
About 0.7-mile into the main trail another option, Wolf Trail
("Yellow") is available. This section includes quick climbs/descents and some ridgeline rides. The exit of Wolf Trail
is a fast descent back onto the flats and the rider can select the "Bottoms" straight ahead or the bypass to the left at the bottom of the hill. The "Bottoms" has perpetually wet sections so it is not recommended to use the bypass unless it has been dry for a long time.
Towards the end, the trail exits into the ball field area of Morsches Park, where the rider can follow the fence line to catch the north side trails, or loop back into the woods to finish the south side. The trail finishes with a longer climb followed by a fast descent crossing a wood bridge over a dry creek. Watch out for the sizable root midway down the hill on the right of the trail.
All options on the south side exit near the entry point of the main trail.
