Description

Park at the West Fork campground just off the Yankee Fork Road. Ride back out the main road after parking and ride north through the small ghost town of Custer. Head up and over the summit. The trail starts at the hairpin turn at the bottom of the hill.

This is an all day trip for the physically fit. You'll be rewarded with great view and solitude but it will not be easy.

After summitting near 9200' you'll start to head downhill into Ramey Creek. While it is generally downhill, it is a lot of work to get though rocks and other obstacles. Also, the trail is washed out in several locations.

Return back to Yankee Fork road and take a right to head north back to the camp ground.

History & Background

It is definitely worth the time to explore the town of Custer.
