High above Lago di Garda: endless gravel and magnificent views.”
— Steffen Hauschild
Usually ridden as a descent. Climbing this road is only recommended in the early morning. A lot of bikers who have been driven up by shuttle take this way downward.
Start at the end of the tarmac road ("Tremalzo Nord") at the restaurant / alpine hut "Rifugio Garda." Car parking is possible here.
A gravel road (Trail #224) continues upward to "Passo Tremalzo." The highest point is a tunnel (It is possible to ride the tunnel without light - you can see the bright end). Leaving the tunnel, you have started the breathtaking downhill on the old road. A lot of gravel, some easy rocky section, some tunnels and a big flow bring you quickly down, more than 2.000' to "Passo Nota" (alpine hut with small restaurant, mostly open).
Here, ends the dirt road and continues to the right as a tarmac road down to Limone, Lago die Garda.
