Update

The famed "Steamboat Stinger:" a ~50-mile epic MTB race.

Mel Stewart

Overview

Closed in the spring until June 30th for elk calving.
This is a great race that combines many of the trails on Emerald Mountain. Most of the trails are a nice consistent grade though there are a few short, but very steep sections on the front side climb.

Description

This is a great ~25-mile loop that includes Mile Run, MGM, Angry Grouse, upper Prayer Flag Trail, Abby's, upper Stairway to Heaven, then the fast and fun descent on the Ridge to Cow Creek Road. The only road riding is the 2 miles ride on the Cow Creek Road (dirt). At the end of the road ride, turn left onto the Beall trail.

Climb back to the top of Emerald then take Root Canal to Quarry Mountain down to the Blair Witch, right. Pop out onto the top of Blackmere Road then descend Little Moab, take a right onto Lupine, at the second exit, pop out onto Blackmere Road and climb until you can take a right onto Prayer Flag Road, go across Prayer Flag meadows then right onto Larry's, descend and then hit lower Lupine across Blackmere Road. Next, take Ricky's Ridge down and head right onto the Bluffs Loop to the bottom on Howelson. One lap is ~25-miles and 3+ hours of riding.
