“This trail packs a lot of surprising scenery into a small space.

Knucklehead is the result of a partnership between KYMBA, the local community and the privately owned Life Adventure Center. There is a nice trailhead and the trails are well maintained, but they are new and still being tweaked and expanded.
There's a lot of potential at Life Adventure Center for more mountain biking as well.
Check the website
for closures for events, hunting, and maintenance.
You begin by riding out from the parking area through open forest and fields. Then the descent begins and you switchback down and down into darker and darker forest. Eventually, you'll reach the creek at the bottom of a steep limestone drainage which empties directly into the Kentucky River (not on trails).
The trail follows the creek, crossing a couple of times, before paralleling one of the Bluegrass Region's historic stone fences. After the fence, the trail begins switchbacking up the opposite side of the drainage before closing a second loop and starting the long climb back to the trailhead.
You could easily combine this ride with Capitol View Park
for a full day, or hit it in the afternoon for a quick burn.
The mapped distance is 3.7 miles, but this is a lollipop loop and the ride is more like 6 miles.
