Update

Combining a great start that "sorts" out the divisions with as much singletrack as possible.

Luu Kee

Overview

This course combines an uphill dirt doubletrack start before hopping onto Down & Out and dropping folks back onto Queen Bess Connector, offering another great uphill doubletrack portion to further help sort divisions out. Once onto Queen Bess, great singletrack climbs on switchbacks until popping riders out onto upper Raptor Road where another great uphill doubletrack passing opens up for another great division sorting area. Then it's all downhill singletrack.

After getting back down to Parking Lot Connector, the finish will go right back towards Moonbeam day lodge and Laps will go left to start another lap.

Need to Know

Course involves steep climbs & some technical rock gardens. Also note, this course is at higher elevation (starts at 8,000 ft and climbs up through 9,000 ft = thinner air)

Description

This course combines an uphill dirt doubletrack start, utilizing the service road behind the mechanic shops which connects Moonbeam day lodge area to Last Chance Mine Camp (the upper day lodge area).

After climbing the service road to Last Chance Mine Camp, riders will turn right, continuing on a paved section of Raptor Road before turning right and heading down onto Down & Out.

At the bottom of Down & Out, riders will turn left and ride past the Link Chairlift around Moonbeams's grass, past the base of the Moonbeam chairlift, and onto the Parking Lot Connector , which parallels the parking lot, riding west.

Riders will then transition onto Queen Bess Connector, offering another great uphill doubletrack portion to further help sort divisions out (this one's more of a grind).

At the top of the connector, riders will turn left onto Queen Bess for some great singletrack climbs with switchbacks. Riders will head straight through the 4-way junction of Serenity and Queen Bess, popping riders out onto upper Raptor Road where a right turn and another great uphill doubletrack opens up for another great division sorting area. This section involves a gravel & paved road to, until the crest of the road, where it then transitions into dirt service road for a flat spin for about 1/2 miles.

Racers will then turn left and head down Easy Out Krzer Connector, and then left again onto Lower Krzer, for some fast ripping singletrack with very little passing opportunities. Towards the bottom of this section is a fast, steep rock garden that can be challenging for Intermediate to beginner riders.

At the bottom of Lower Krzer riders will turn left and head down Raptor Road for 2 turns of paved road sprinkled with loose gravel (easy on the speed).

Riders will then turn left down onto Down & Out (for a second time, first time was during the start) and ride down to the junction and then turn LEFT and head-up Lower Serenity.

Riders will stay on Lower Serenity and head down and right at the junction back down to Parking Lot Connector.

At Parking Lot Connector LAPS go left (back up Queen Bess Connector ) FINISHERS go right and finish is at the base of the Moonbeam Chairlift.
