During hunting season, the Emmitsburg trails are only open Sundaysbe aware of posted signage. This year, hunting season begins on September 6th, 2018 and runs through May 24th, 2019.

Description

The intermediate trail begins to the left of the earthen dam at Rainbow Lake and is blazed yellow.

It starts with a short, steep climb. Once above the lake, two loops beckon. The nearest loop features rock gardens, demanding flow sections and a rewarding downhill. This quick, flowing downhill trail is punctuated by switchbacks and rock stacks which require attentive riding.

Three options greet riders at the bottom of the Intermediate Trail near the crossing of Turkey Creek: a rolling uphill ride back to Rainbow Lake and the Beginner/Intermediate Trail, crossing Turkey Creek to the Advanced Trail, or continuing across Hampton Valley Road to the Connector Trail. All three trails meet on Hampton Valley Road, and the trailheads are well signed.
