Madison Manor Park consists of both the developed fields and paved path and the singletrack on the hillside of Brandymore Castle, a natural hill and limestone outcrop used as a boundary marker since the 18th century.
The real jewel at the park are the hilly trails west of the developed ballfields. These trails parallel the Washington and Old Dominion rail trail and wind their way up to the top of Brandymore Castle. At the top, the trails roll right over the exposed rock, creating an aerobic and technical challenge you wouldn't expect to find so close into the city. The trails are non-directional and intertwined, so the route around and up the hill is a choose your own adventure.
They're easily accessible from the surrounding neighborhoods and the East Falls Church Metro station, making the hilly route here great for squeezing in before our after work laps, or adding a little spice to your bike commute into DC!
