A grand ride up or down Tahoe Mtn. area, overlooking South Lake Tahoe and Fallen Leaf Lake.

Grant Lewis

Overview

Open all year. High snow years you must wait until spring melt to ride on south facing aspect.
Dogs: Off-leash

Description

Angora Ridge Trail makes a nice climb up to access Tahoe Mountain or Valley View Trail or an excellent flowing descent. This ride makes for a great quick loop descending Valley View Trail after work or a quick workout. Watch out for several deep sandy sections throughout. Access this trail from the trailhead parking on Tahoe Mtn. Rd. across from Forest Mountain Drive or park on Devron Way and take the Devron Connector. This trail is mostly non-technical with only one or two tight rock sections to get through.

Downhill is fast and flowing. Only a couple of switchbacks that were quite loose and had to really slow down. Not another person in sight.

Getting forecast...

This is my favorite after work ride here in Tahoe. The climb is pretty solid (just enough to be a good workout.) There is one techy switchback on the climb that's relatively easy to clean. After that there are a few sandy switchbacks. The view from the top is great. you can see most of the lake and a lot of desolation wilderness from there. The descent isn't the rowdiest but it's fast with a few optional tech sections and jumps. Most of the time, however, I prefer to descend on the burnout trail. The entire ride is a quick workout; perfect for those who don't have much time. Feb 11, 2016
