The Reno Wheelmen Twilight MTB Race Series has been held from April until September for the past 28 years in the Reno Area on Thursday Nights. The series is run entirely by volunteers of the Reno Wheelmen, a nonprofit cycling club that has promoted cycling events in the Reno area since 1896. The events have been designed to promote cycling and fitness for all levels of cyclists in the community. Many of the these cyclists have volunteered hundreds hours with IMBA Related Clubs to help build and maintain the USFS trail system through the Carson Ranger District and Washoe County Parks Trail System.
The Reno Wheelmen host 50 plus competitive cycling events every year in all types of cycling disciplines. We support our members who race with generous race reimbursement as well as discounted clothing. You don't need to be a member to race, but it is encouraged as it is the support from our members and sponsors that allows us to promote these events.
The Race starts at the intersection of the Peavine Access Rd (Road 41641) and the Railroad Tracks. All riders race up Peavine Rd past PoeVille, Trail Markers 1879, 1880,1881, to the C/Jr. Finish (7 km (890 ft). The A/B route continues up the Access Rd. past the Middle Tower to the Saddle. Then the course heads right toward the Peavine Peak Towers. The finish is at the Far Northern Tower 11 km (2935 ft) from the start. It takes about an hour.
Poeville was first mined in 1864. The mine is still in use today. More info here
