“A fun loop ride with a few creek crossings and a good mix of climbs and descents.
— Mark Berry
Don't ride if the trails are too muddy.
This is a typical ride through Fair Hill Natural Resource Area. It features lots of roots, decent climbs, and some faster, winding descents.
Need to Know
Start and end from Fairhill North Lot on Appleton Rd.
This ride starts on the eastern side of the Big Elk Creek Valley from the North Appleton Road parking lot. It is a daily fee lot that costs a couple dollars.
The ride heads down into the valley through a series of trails and crosses the river and climbs up towards the race horse training stables. The ride proceeds to cross over Route 273 via a bridge and starts to head back down to the Bg Elk Creek which it then crosses back over and proceeds back towards the parking lot.
History & Background
You'll ride through and past a couple old, ruined farm houses.
