Update

A one-way singletrack trail that climbs from The Village to Mammoth Mountain Main Lodge.

Alan Jacoby

Description

The first half of the trail is public/free. At the Earthquake Fault Junction, it enters the Mammoth Mountain Bike Park which requires you to have a bike park ticket, pedal pass or season pass if you're riding while the park is open.
One of the staples for Mammoth locals and visitors alike everyone rides Uptown if they've ridden in Mammoth. Since it's a one-way trail, that goes "up," most people connect it with Downtown Trail or other Mammoth Bike Park trails to make a loop. Uptown can either be a great introduction to mountain biking or an all-out lung-buster if you really push it.

The bottom half of the trail, up to the Earthquake Fault Junction, is public/free to ride. If you go past there during bike park hours, be prepared to show your ticket/pass. If you ride before/after park hours or when the park is closed for the season, it's all good. You can connect it with the lower/public portion of the Downtown Trail at this point and do the Uptown Downtown Short Loop without needing a bike park pass. You can also cross Hwy 203 at the Earthquake Fault Junction and link up with Mountain View Trail.

If you continue climbing Uptown, you'll eventually make it to Main Lodge. Along the way, there are bailout points to connect to Big Ring, Paper Route, Brake Through - all options to make great rides. You can do the Uptown Downtown Full Loop by turning on Downtown at Main Lodge or continue climbing Beach Cruiser, or take the Gondola to the top. There are many great singletrack options for all riders on the mountain! I suggest you get a bike park map, and check out the Mammoth Mountain Bike Park
