Potters Point Trails and the North West lake level trails of Orovile

Adopt These Trails!

Overview

This is a great cross country type out and back ride on bobcat cut "singletrack". It is smooth, wide, and easy. There are over 70 miles of trail in this area and this is a great ride to learn about the area. This ride has all of the potters point loops that are on the North West side of the lake. These trails are well maintained and best ridden in the Spring and Fall.
Features: -none-

Need to Know

Lock your car and hide your valuables. It's Oroville so there is a better than average chance of your car getting broken into.

Description

This is a smooth out and back that incorporates all of the North West lake side loops. For less climbing, avoid the loops. More climbing? Do the loops twice, they ride well in both directions. This ride is appropriate an appropriate introduction to singletrack for new riders while still being fun for advanced riders at speed.

History & Background

The equestrian community has historically seen these as "Their" trails. Be nicer than would reasonably be expected to help improve trail relations. Chances are you won't see anyone after the first few miles.

"It's Oroville so there is a better than average chance of your car getting broken into." was an unneccessary comment. I live on the Bidwell Canyon Trail, ride the trails almost daily, and have never had a problem with theives. Chico (and most areas south of Oroville) have much greater crime problems. Oct 31, 2015

I am the guy who posted this up and over the past 15 years my car has been broken into three times at the various trailheads around the lake. I am just trying to provide information based upon my experience. I didn't mean to offend anyone. Mar 30, 2016
Did this trail over the thanksgiving weekend. I really enjoyed the ride and can't wait to return and do it again! Thanks for sharing. Nov 28, 2016
