A lung-buster to the ridge or a return from Osberg Ridge Trail

Chris Wandervans

Electric Mountain Bikes Unknown

Features -none-

Can be snowbound until June.

Description

This trail starts close to town in amongst the more popular loops and starts off smooth and fast. Watch your speed close to town since the trail can get crowded in the summertime.

Once you pass Griffin Butte Connector the trail will entirely change character going from a buff singletrack to more of a classic Idaho backcountry trail. There is a nice lung buster about half way that will have you pushing your bike some. Additionally, there will be some off-camber trail sections. This trail can be loose later in the fall and will become more challenging. Once on the ridge, after the hike-a-bike, you'll cruise along at a fairly steady pace on a very narrow trail.

This trail can also be ridden in reverse as a long downhill. Use the Baker Creek Rd to access the top of the trail if you don't want to ride up, or shuttle to the far end of Osberg Ridge Trail. The trail rides well (best?) as a mostly downhill with only a couple of short climbs.

This trail is also a great way to create some larger loops in the area and provides access/return to/from the Osberg Ridge Trail.

Little snow dusting the night before. Trail was still in great shape. Few spots with trees in trail (not fast downhill spots).
