Description

Start from the bottom of Grapevine Wash & quickly join the creek as the trail cuts through the rock of East Reef. Shortly after entering the narrow sandstone slot, about 200 feet from the trailhead on the left side, about 10 feet up, there are petroglyphs on the sandstone.

Then, in about 1/3 of a mile, you'll do several creek crossings & at mile 2, you'll hit the toughest part of the climb as the pitch gets steeper & a little more technical. Although the trail has a gradual climb, there are 2 very steep sections.

11/2018-Trail is in very poor condition and someone needs to invest some time in trail maintenance. The first part of this trail was so cobbled and chunky that it was virtually unridable. With a little time and sweat this trail could be amazing due to the terrain, beautiful surrounding scenery and off the beaten path location. Also, the road leading to the trailhead is a bit sketchy in certain spots so be careful on the drive in. Nov 18, 2018
