“The 3rd of 4 Stacked Loops in Highland State Rec. A fun short loop with one extended climb.”
— Randy Kessler
Popular with hunters during deer season. Check Michigan DNR site for exact dates and wear orange when appropriate. A Michigan "Recreation Passport" is required to park at the trail-head
The C Loop has a short 2-way connector off of the B Loop
and is the 3rd of the 4 stacked loops in Highland Recreation A-B-C-D Loops
. At the beginning of the C Loop there is a good rock filter to let you know what is to follow. This loop has tighter switchbacks, more rocks and roots than A/B and one extended climb about 2/3rds of the way around. It is a fun, slow go if you still have the legs after A & B.
Your time is spent navigating rocks and roots on this narrow singletrack-lovers heaven. Plenty of off-camber trail will keep you on your toes, too. Beginners should ride this trail with other experienced riders; it is a challenging ride. The basic A/B Loop
defines the character of this trail, while C Loop adds more rock passages.
