Overview
Fast and flat in some areas, rocky and technical in others, this trail system has a little bit of everything.
Description
Trail begins along the Tygart River and snakes its way up and back down the side of the hill. First third of the ride is mostly flat and fast with a few rock gardens, middle third of the trail is where you'll do most of the climbing and the last third is almost all downhill.
Start by pedaling along
River Trail. Keep the river to your left and you're going in the right direction. Trail is easy to see with one possible point of confusion - A kids trail that runs parallel to this trail at the beginning. Stay to the left when you see this trail start to "braid" into another. Take
Conflicted Desire at the end of
River Trail.
Conflicted Desire is mostly flat at the beginning with more rocks and a few rock piles. The trail will begin to gain some elevation after the third (unarmored) creek crossing. A few fast sections will reward your effort as well.
Next, follow
Double Bypass. The majority of the climbing is done here. A well made switchback section brings you out on the top of the ridge where an old house sits abandoned and continues on to an old logging road. After
Double Bypass, look for
Rock Pinch Trail to pick up.
Rock Pinch is a more technical section of downhill trail with plenty of rocks and roots to keep you on your toes. The trail begins to level out near the end where you'll take the final trail:
Brick House Trail.
Brick House is fairly flat with a few rocky sections. The trail passes the foundation of an old brick building (possibly an old mine portal) and terminates in the large field across from the start of
River Trail.
