Scenic mountain trail with some loose rocks, beautiful scenery, and fireroad connection”
— Adopt These Trails!
To be written
From the Day Creek parking area near Montvale, ride up the loose horse trail to the East and settle in for plenty of short, steep climbs and fun downhill sections. Eventually the trail meets a fireroad, #4008, onto which you turn left and start climbing up to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Ride under the Parkway and begin heading downhill on the fireroad for approximately one mile. Look for a hard right onto the singletrack and prepare for a ridiculously steep climb/hike-a-bike that is mercifully short.
Once you reach a lefthand switchback, the trail becomes a delightful mountainside cruise with gentle climbs and descents for several miles. Take in the views and enjoy the downhill near the end. Before the trail meets the parking lot it meanders through a less scenic area surrounded by private property, so be sure to follow the blazes here. Finally the trail ends at the parking lot near Highway 43.
