Flat, technical. best use: time trial
Avoid after moderate to heavy rainfall
Need to Know
North section can be accessed by way of Broadway Rd, just off the west-bound EC Row expressway with parking at the dog park. Southern section can be accessed off of Ojibway Parkway; take Weaver Road west to Cherry Blossom and park at the intersection of Ironwood and Cherry Blossom - Parking area is small!
Black Oak is a flat, but technical ride. Lots of switchbacks but no elevation to speak of. Open year round but springtime can get pretty messy, so please try to avoid after periods of rain. Lot's of fun to be had and is best used for time trials.
There are basically two sections that can be ridden together in both directions, each divided by a set of active train tracks in the middle of the park **Always take caution when crossing**
Northern section can be ridden fast, as there are less switchback and areas to let it out and the trees and brush aren't very dense.
Southern section is tighter with very few areas to get going fast. Some obstacles like a small log ride and a small pump track to be found in this area. Be VERY careful of the small broken tiles in this area: there was a tile making shop in the area years ago and there are two sections where they still sit, they are incredibly slippery when wet!! Why are they still there? I guess it just makes this place unique!?!
