Description

This popular section of the Trans Canada Trail is used to create a loop of the SFU East MTB trails. It has a few seriously steep climbs (20%+) that are short, thankfully. But in general its all up from the Port Moody side until you reach SFU and then mostly down to Burnaby Mt. Parkway.

Starting from the North end of Dead Moped ride (if you can) up the brutally steep 40m. or so until you reach the power lines. Turn left and ride up (less steep) until reaching the wide gravel clearing with signpost on the right and the Trans Canada Trail continuing uphill on your left.

The 2.5 m. wide trail is mostly crushed gravel that gives excellent traction. Lots of walkers use these trails too so watch your speed around the many corners.

At the top of a heart-poundingly steep section with a handrail on the right, keep right giving yourself a small break and avoiding "Cardiac Hill" going steeply up left.
