Description

South Pale Ale had always started at Billygoat Trail. Just not where it does now. That intersection was wiped out by the 2010 tornado, causing its junction to be moved uphill.

The trail now starts at the new end of Billygoat trail and immediately continues its rocky ways with a few technical sections and some big boulder skirting. Upon exiting the rocks, it starts to descend, giving your brakes a workout. A pesky private land border gets in the way, forcing a switchback to shed some more elevation, before reaching the nadir at the corner of this property.

That means it's time to climb again and you'll soon reach a nice pine forest for a short section. After this, you'll start to descend again and after two creek crossings and a logover, the trail climbs slightly to its end on Hungry Hollow Rd.
