Rocky singletrack through a beautiful hemlock creek valley.

Frank Maguire

Overview

If it's been raining or early Spring, it might be best to skip this trail as it can be very wet.

Description

Railroad Run is half 100 year old road bed, half new trail connecting to Schade Path. The new trail has a few significant rock gardens and a couple of tricky rock problems to keep you on your toes. The old road bed has several cool rock outcroppings, making for a technical climb or nice drop offs if you are descending.

The trail is good in both directions, but if you're heading down hill from Tunis road, the turn on to the singletrack comes up fast, so keep an eye out for a hard left. If you miss it, you'll end up on private property.

As of Summer 2014, DCNR was installing a bridge across the creek but it wasn't completed as of August.
