Description

A short, hard-ish, sweet climb, then a sweet descent with many options at the top.

After crossing under Hwy 1 via the Wilder tunnel, continue past the horse corals, then stay to the right. This is the beginning of the right fork of Engleman's Loop.

There is an initial hard but short climb that then mellows out and continues up at a more modest slope. The road runs on the edge of a meadow and meanders in and out of shade provides by pretty old oak trees.

The last little bit of the climb goes through a really nice oak shaded trail. After a hard sweaty climb the shade feels really nice.

At the top you'll hit the intersection of Engleman's Loop, Long Meadow, and the Wild Boar Trail. Turn left to start the descent on the left fork of Engleman's Loop.

The upper bit is fire road but about halfway down, the left fork has been rerouted
for erosion control. Now the trail is a really nice 1/2 mile or so of flowy descent, with two switchbacks that skirt the edge of the meadow through a stand of oaks. Very sweet.
