This trail connects the bottom of the descent along the North Country Trail (the portion along an old town road) back up to Salamanca Forest Road.

The usual drill is to go down and take a quick look at the 1800's stone bridge just downhill from the start of this trail, and then climb this Dead Scout trail back up the hill.

This trail got its name from a very old IH Scout abandoned halfway up the trail, and which is being gradually reclaimed by nature.
