Description
Head up Lick Creek Rd. from McCall about 8 miles. Just after the single lane bridge, turn right into a primitive campground. The trail is at the back of the camping area on the left. (This is not the Lake Fork Campground)
East Fork of Lake Fork is an incredible cross country ride with technical rock sections mixed with smooth singletrack riding. There are several technical climbs flowing into open singletrack sections, it is a nice combination. Tall pine forests open up to alpine meadows. Most riders will go to Idler Creek and turn around. The trail continues past the large creek for another mile of good, but challenging riding.
Wherever you choose to turn around, you'll have a fast rolling descent back to the trailhead.
The return is fast and full of pedaling to keep your speed up. All those technical climbs are now your options of small rock drops and jumps. Be ready for a few climbs. This is a wildly fun out and back ride. If you're new to technical, this is a great place to begin practicing.
This is an out and back trail and the map only shows the "out" portion and not the "back". Keep in mind that the trail is twice as long when you account for having to ride back.
