Description

If you're coming up Hardscrabble, look for a trailhead sign off to the right just before you come to the National Forest boundary (cattle crossing and large wooden sign). Pop on to the trail and enjoy the continuous descent as you parallel the creek just to your right.

Keep your eyes open for the actual pipeline that pokes through the trail from time to time. You'll have some established creek crossings throughout, followed by a straight crossing near the end. During high season this creek crossing can get pretty deep so just keep your speed as you splash your way through.

As things open up and you emerge from the tree area you'll come to a fork. Continue straight and down to stay in Third Gulch all the way back to Eagle via the Eagle Ranch Loops. Or branch left to jump on the Abrams Connector towards the western trails.
