Description

This section of the Jackrabbit is the easiest and most direct trail to access the Loggers-Lussi network from downtown Lake Placid. During the winter months, the Jackrabbit trail is a first-class ski touring route between the communities of Keene, Lake Placid, Saranac Lake and Paul Smiths.

The trail is named after the legendary skier Hermann Smith "Jackrabbit" Johannsen who spent a portion of his long and remarkable life in the Adirondacks. Several sections of the trail also happen to be great for mountain biking or other non-motorized recreation. Jackrabbit was a tremendous inspiration for the soul of ski touring around the world, and his spirit lives on in this special trail.
