Night riding only until 9 PM. Follow IMBA rules---yield to walkers, runners, and horse riders.
This is a great trail for those just beyond a beginner level; a rider will not encounter many drops or ledges here, and the very few that there are have alternate lines. The system is a mix of out in the open riding with just some in wooded, tree covered area. Sunblock will be a must. As you ride along certain sections of the trail you'll have a fantastic view of Stillhouse Hollow Lake. The elevation gain is small (250 feet in 8 miles perhaps)...the climbing is short and punchy. This is fast, flowy riding with few roots, some rocks, but mainly 95% smooth singletrack and 5% "jeep road". For example if you average 7 or 8 miles on your usual ledgy, root filled trail, you'll average 10 MPH plus here. This is a featured rte, one of MANY possibilities that one can get by riding Corp of Engineer land between Dana Peak and Stillhouse Hollow parks.
Need To Know
This is the more ridden trail in the greater Ft Hood/Killeen area, the other being BLORA out on our other lake, Lake Belton. Want a much rockier, slower ride go BLORA. Else come here !
Corp of Engineer land on Stillhouse Hollow Lake. Park at the bend of Comanche Gap Rd. No fee. Tricity Bikes and "Race Dana Peak" are attempting to bring structure in the form of updated trail signage, rules and possibly a pay to play scheme. These are fast, unmarked trails...but one cannot get lost.
