PLEASE NOTE: Update 1/11/21 - While this trail is a fun trail for mountain bikers, it's use is currently in danger due to increasing conflicts and dangerous incidents with equestrians and hikers. We want to keep it safe AND keep it open to mountain bikers! So, please do your part…slow down, stay alert to other users, don't wear earbuds, and yield the trail per guideline. Bells are highly recommended!

Description

Beginning at the Granite Basin/Katahn Drive trailhead, get ready because a mile and a half of relatively steep and at times rocky climbing awaits. Trail #341 provides the opportunity for a detour leaving the trail after about 0.6 miles and rejoining the trail at about the mile and a half mark. Towards the top before passing through the gate the Willow Connector Trail (#346) breaks away and heads west. To stay on the Willow Trail keep right and pass through the gate to crest the broad saddle. Don't forget to take a breather and soak in the view of the Granite Mountain Wilderness.

Once you catch your breath, the next few miles of rolling singletrack will reward you for your efforts. It is possible to build some speed in places, but please be aware that this is a multi-use trail that is also popular with equestrians. MTB access is threatened as a result of many conflicts between MTBs and horses. Please be a good steward and ride in control — you don't know what/who is around the next blind corner.

Eventually, you'll pass through another gate where the Mint Wash Trail (#345) briefly shares a section with the Willow Trail (#347). Hang a right where the trails fork and enjoy the last mile and a half or so of smooth and easy singletrack.

Headed south from Wlmsn Vly trail head. Not super smooth initially. Lots of climbing. Ends with lots of chunk and loose rock. Not very fast. 5mi — 2h 00m
