Overview

This loop goes up 250 to the Confederate breast works and then up a two-track to some singletrack before you end at the Georgia Camp sign.
This is a late Fall, Winter or Spring ride....In summer the nettles are too thick.

Need to Know

The climb up from Georgia Camp (Parking Lot) to the Confederate Breast Works where you pick up the trail is not easy or for the faint of heart...OR impossible...it just depends on your fitness level and commitment.

Description

While on this trail you'll see other terrain and trails that are part of the larger G.W. National Forest trail system and will give you good ideas of other places to go.

This is a good ride but full of foliage in the summer that some may not want to deal with. Long climb up 250 to breast works and then a couple of more climbs until you start down. In descent weather the downhills are awesome with a few small rock gardens and little creek crossings.

Riding this trail will get you on "part" of the Southern Traverse which is an IMBA Epic.

History & Background

This trail and area was a hotspot during the civil war...The confederate breast works is a good spot to visit....take pictures, use the privy and answer questions from folks who can't believe you rode up Shenendoah Mountain....
