It's a great loop that starts off with a nice XC run, goes into some easy downhill, and then some tighter, more techy downhills before climbing out and pedaling along the road.
Need to Know
There are some steep drops and climbs through arroyos along Cattle Fence Trail. WS06 is an easy descent with some berms, WS04 has quicker drops, bigger berms, and optional features like gaps and drops.
Park at the Placitas Area Trails trailhead. Exit the parking lot to the east, fairly shortly there will be a split in the trail at the fence line- head to the right. Ride the fence line until it stops at the dirt road, there are frequently cars parked here. Head downhill, cross the road, and get on the WS06 trail. This is a nice warm up downhill, with some small berms and fast sections.
When WS06 dead-ends at WS03, turn right and head north. Take the second left, WS04 and head west. WS04 has some nice drops and some smooth berms. There are several optional features, the second gap jump has a cactus in the gap. It's easy to pass the climb out to the left, if you get to fenceposts you went too far. Climb out to the section of WS03 you already did, and either repeat WS04 or follow WS03 to the road. Continue along the road to the north to return to the parking lot.
