The Noxubee Hills Trails are located in the Ackerman Unit of the Tombigbee National Forest in central Mississippi. The trails run through a hilly and remote area of Choctaw and Winston counties. The approximately thirty miles of trail are a mixture of narrow singletrack, abandoned forest roads and roads closed to motorized vehicles. There are two trail heads, one located at Choctaw Lake National Recreation area near Ackerman and the second about 7 miles from Louisville beside the Noxubee Hills Cemetery.

Hikers and riders of all ability levels will discover a beautifully rugged area, remote enough for a genuine sense of adventure and hilly enough to challenge even the best. Come for a day or a weekend and find out for yourself what the area has to offer.

These trails are in a rugged and isolated area and persons wishing to ride or hike them should download the trail map or pick one up from the Forest Service office (closed on weekends). Trail users should come prepared with plenty of water, food and equipment to handle flats or possible emergencies. During hunting season orange clothing is required.

This loop starts and ends at the boat ramp on the campground side of Choctaw Lake.
Starting on the Lakeside Trail, in a westerly direction taking Splashing Dog Trail, Rabbits Run Trail, Lost Cemetery Road, Rockcrusher Road, Sheep Ranch Trail, Charlotte's Web Trail - aka CW Trail, Long Bridge Trail, North Trail, Lost Cemetery Road, Rabbits Run Trail, Beaver Lodge Trail and the eastern side of the Lakeside Trail.

The technical difficulty of the trails ranges from easy to moderate. There are many challenging climbs with some tight switchbacks on the singletrack. There are a dozen creek crossings which have bridges or a reinforced gravel bottom. The trails are well marked with permanent trail markers attached to trees. The perimeter trails which form a 21.6 mile loop from either trailhead are marked in orange in one direction and yellow in the opposite direction. For multiple loop options there are several interior connecting trails marked with blue trail markers. No horses or ATVs are allowed on the trails.

This outer loop skips all of the Blue inner and connector trails (Blue A through D Connector Trails, E Trail, Log Jump Trail, Power Line Trail, 3 Bridges Trail), a section of the Lost Cemetery Road that runs parallel with the Rabbits Run Trail and the trails behind the campground (Chata Trail, Cabin Lake Trail and the Headwaters Trail).
