This trail system is in a multiuse National Forest area. During hunting seasons, primarily deer and turkey (spring), you should wear BLAZE ORANGE. All forest users are expected to wear blaze during hunting seasons. There are not a lot of hunters in this area but there are some. A blaze vest or shirt ensures your visibility. Rangers are emphatic that all trail users need to comply with this safety rule.
Description
This is the newest singletrack trail to be added to the trail system. It replaces Walker Woods road. When combined with
Beaver Lodge Trail it forms a 4 mile loop called the Beaver Loop. From the Lake Trailhead go across the levy and turn left across the paved road.
The trail climbs to the top of a hill, crosses graveled Walker Woods Rd and skirts a small section of private land. It then crosses the gravel road a second time and turns right heading downhill, first along an old forest road and then along side hill trail until it reaches the river bottom.
The trail runs along the bank of the Noxubee River, crosses a small bridge and then skirts the eastern edge of a very large beaver pond. After leaving the pond the trail continues through pine forest with small "roller" type hills until it eventually returns open bottom land and the river once again.
The end of the trail is on Walker Woods Rd just a few yards from
Beaver Lodge Trail and
Rabbits Run Trail. To reach these two trails, turn left, go across the bridge and a few yards up the hill.
