This trail system is in a multiuse National Forest area. During hunting seasons, primarily deer and turkey (spring), you should wear BLAZE ORANGE. All forest users are expected to wear blaze during hunting seasons. There are not a lot of hunters in this area but there are some. A blaze vest or shirt ensures your visibility. Rangers are emphatic that all trail users need to comply with this safety rule.

Description

From the north end, this old gated road begins at the end of Walker Woods Rd and ends at an intersection with Rockcrusher Rd. In the first half mile it goes through a very dense young pine forest to a narrow bridge which is referred to as the Steel Bridge. The bridge spans the Noxubee River, little more than a creek at this point.

After crossing the bridge, the singletrack North Trail splits off to the left and Lost Cemetery Road continues straight ahead. The road continues across flat bottom land called the Blaine Bottom. It skirts a large wildlife food plot and then continues into mature pine forest along a creek. The road remains very flat and deeply shaded until it begins to climb into the hills. The last mile of this road is rolling and goes through a scenic area with hardwood forest. It ends at the intersection with Rockcrusher Road.

During wet weather the bottom land through which this old road runs is usually extremely wet. Because the road is lower than the surrounding area it is frequently covered in water during the winter and spring. A singletrack bypass for this section of often flooded road, the Blue A Trail can be reached via the North Trail. The blue trails B and C connect this road with the North Trail to allow for loops of varying distances.
