Access the upper trailhead from FR 2129 and FR 439 and turn right at the overgrown entrance to Young's Rock Trail (3688) aka Moon Point. After a mile or so of mild climbing hike along the spur trail out to Moon Point for dizzying views of the expansive Willamette National Forest to the west. Back on the trail, the all-encompassing descent has switchbacks, open meadows, exposed singletrack, ridge views, and fast, smooth sections of trail that will have you grinning ear to ear.
Be sure to take in the amazing views of the sheer face of Youngs Rock as you cruise by from far below and navigate a short scree section. Continuing down the balance of the trail crossing a few dirt roads and then through a small clearing where the trail is quite steep at times. A winding segment takes you back into the forest along the last mile before ending back at FR 21.
