A fun romp through a reclaimed phosphate mine.

Description

This is part of the Alafia River State Park system, an IMBA epic. Located in what was once a phosphate mining operation, the water-filled pits and spoil piles make for elevation changes otherwise unheard of in SW Florida.

This trail is characterized by some reasonably steep hills and banked turns alongside the previously mentioned spoil piles. Unlike most large loops in the system, this trail is one-way, starting at the trailhead and dead-ending at the River Loop, except on Wednesdays. On that day (Wacky Wednesday), the direction is reversed.

Super fun and super flowy, but the low-lying areas get super muddy. This is one of the best Florida trails I have ever ridden. 1.9mi

Very fun trail. It is one of the better intermediate trails at Alafia River State Park. There are plenty of side trails that can increase the difficulty and if you choose to take advantage of them, they lead right back to North Creek Trail. When I ride Alafia this is always my first trail....provides good warm up and great challenges for the harder trails. Try Gatorback and Moonscape....and then take a short drive to Balm Boyette and do Ridgeline....some of the best trails in central FL! Alafia River State Park is great, SWAMP always does great work maintaining and improving the trail system. The trail system is always directional in the intermediate and harder trails and they are only for bikes, no dealing with horses or hikers! Most of the trails lead you back to the trailhead.
