This is a multi-use trail that begins at the historic Wakulla Springs Lodge and meanders over the headwaters of the Wakulla River. The trail goes through several different habitats from cypress domes to hardwood forest to pine forest.

The trail begins as a reasonably well-packed hiking/cycling trail, with the occasional boardwalk through cypress swamp. Approximately halfway through, it expands out into a straight run (approx 1.5 miles) of elevated dirt road that is very soft in sections before narrowing down and turning back in to the woods.

This is not a technical nor fast trail. There are no obstacles other than the occasional root or fallen limb (or hikers). This is--pretty much as advertised by the park service--a get out, relax, and look at nature things type of trail. If you enjoy critter watching with your cycling, this can be a good choice for you.
