“The main thoroughfare on the east side and probably the most used trail in the park.”
— C. W.
Flowing sections with some technical obstacles. Short, but steep, rocky climbs in sections. This trail section is densely shaded and a vista along first mile of trail offers a view of south Tulsa and the Arkansas River.
From the parking lot, head north on the main trail staying to the right. After the clearing, turn left. Cross through a dry creek and choose one of three trails heading up the hill to the right. They all go to the same place, but the last one is the preferred route (the others, especially the second, are rutted fall line trails).
At the top of this short climb, there is a large concrete footing, left from old oil field equipment. There is a yellow arrow painted on the concrete, head to the right. Follow the trail around to the east side of the hill. The trail continues along the entire east side of the hill approximately two miles.
Keep in mind Turkey Mountain is a multi-use park and this trail can be very busy at times.
