Description

The trail begins just south of Mounds Park Rd at the top of Walnut Hollow hiking/ski trail. You can also access it from the campground by going down the paved connector path toward Military Ridge or from Military Ridge coming up the connector.

Starting from Mounds Park Rd and going west, there's a nice curvy section with dry stream bed crossings every few hundred feet.

As it winds its way toward the connector to Military Ridge you'll encounter some rock gardens. After crossing the connector, the trail opens up a bit and the descent angle increases and allows for more speed, with the occasional switchback, and finally ends where trail work has been halted since 2011. Turn around and climb back out, or optionally, climb up the connector towards the campground.
