Good, difficult riding with some excellent trail work and unfortunate wet sections.

Description

Some very rocky and difficult sections with good views of the marshes. There are usually a couple wet sections that will probably be walked. Rides easier West to East.

This trail is the most interesting way to get to South Mountain and serves as a connector with the Woronoco and Split Rock trails.

Starting from the eastern end, at the junction with the Fundy trail, the Shaw trail gets interesting right away with a number of wet sections, short climbs and drops. After the first bridge crossing, the Shaw narrows and becomes extremely rocky. A few dismounts may be necessary; very fun riding though if you can keep it together.

As the trail turns away from the marshes towards the junction with the Split Rock trail, it mellows although there are still several short rocky climbs. Past the Split Rock trail, there is an awesome rock bridge over a wet section; it's easier to ride this West to East. One final rocky steep climb brings you over the ridge to the South Mountain area.
