“A flat and well maintained carriage trail with beautiful views of the Catskills to the North.”
— ESG Greene
Well maintained carriage trails of varying distances and elevation gains. Well marked and patrolled by rangers. Very scenic with periodic rest/lookout areas.
A biking pass for the Mohonk Preserve is required for riding this trail. This pass is also valid for biking or hiking on the Mohonk Mountain House and Minnewaska State Park
properties. A pass for parking at Minnewaska State Park
does not entitle you to bike onto the other properties.
Helments are required on all trails.
This is an old carriage trail that runs along the top of the famous Trapps Cliffs at the Shawangunks Mountains (Pronounced Shon-gum). Along most of its lengths there are dramatic views to the North of the Catskill Mountains. At the East end of the path it turns downhill and intersects with the Undercliff Carriage Trail
, which will bring you back to the Western end.
You can also take Laurel Ledge Road or cross Rhododendron Bridge and then continue on Old Minnewaska Road or Oakwood Drive. Either of these trails continue onto the Mohonk Mountain House property.
