One of the easisest sections of the AZ trail.

This section of the AZ trail is one of the easiest. It can be ridden as a stand alone out and back ride starting at either the Gabe Zimmerman trailhead or the Sahaurita Rd trailhead, or in conjunction with the sections of AZ trail on either end of it.

The trail is mostly flat with packed sections of trail to zip you right through. The trail twists and turns and goes up and down to maximize your fun. There are a couple of culverts plenty tall to ride through, as you have to go under I-10 (mile 1.5) and Hwy 83 (mile 5.5).

There really isn't anything descript about parts of this trail, just typical AZ dirt with a few rocks sticking up here and there.

Best section of the AZT we have ridden so far. Flows well and not so full of rock gardens.

Really fun ride. Once you get in past the Zimmerman trail sign it can be a little confusing. That’s going from South to North. 15.4mi

A few of us have done this one several times. As Robert says below. A good rout for beginners or a more relaxing ride for regulars. Fairly smooth section of AZ trail. Going north from Zimmerman is more challenging with a fair number of sections you will likely walk if you are less experienced on technical riding. This was one of my first trails as a single track and it hooked me. Dec 4, 2015

Just some added info I found handy. First time doing the trail today. If you're doing it as an out and back, definitely park at the north side, at the actual Gabe Zimmerman trailhead on Marsh Station Road. It's fun both ways, but that way you have the gradual uphill on the way out and the awesome flowy downhill on the way back! Also, it's a 12.6 mile round trip. It's almost entirely flowy singletrack. It crosses 1 road and has tunnels under two others. There was only 1 spot that i feel could be a little tricky for a beginner. Enjoy! Feb 16, 2016

First time on this trail 11/24/17 from the zimmerman trail head to corral loop and back. Heading south, is a bit boring, I was regretting riding this section instead of heading up to Pistol hill. Don't like the 3 or 4 cattle gates you have to open and close but I understand the need. The ride back was totally different, strange how an out and back that has little to no elevation gain can be so different. It was fast, flowy and so much fun, really made it worth the ride.
