Sidewinder is a directional trail that parallels Easy Street on the north side of the Mahnomen Unit. Starting from the east, the route is up on the hillside and descends slightly to reach lake level. On the flatter sections, the trail gets fairly twisty. The trail will keep you engaged but listen for loons trumpeting on the lake.
As it rolls west, Sidewinder contours up on the hillside and traverses a few open areas hillsides, one that has seen a slide recently. Good views of Alstead Mine Lake through here.
The far east end stays on the contour and ends at Crusher. From here you can bear right to access the upper trails or cruise back to the trailhead from here.
