Description

This trail can be ridden as a difficult out and back; as a longer out and back by adding Horseshoe Canyon South Fork; as a loop by adding Mount Manning and Twin Creek; as an even longer loop starting w/Horseshoe Canyon South Fork and returning on W 3000 S/S 5000 W/W Buxton/N 7000 W/W 1000 N/Old Horseshoe Road.

The top of Mahogany was the benefit of a trail reroute in the last few years. The trail reroute eliminated steep and loose rocky section. Now the top consists of tight flowy switchbacks, all on our typical nice smooth dirt floor found in the Big Holes. One or two steep turns to keep you honest. A few rocks can be found as well as you progress down the trail. The trail is easy to follow and flows well. A few water bars may hold water days after storms. Bottom requires you to ride through the creek so plan on getting a little wet depending on depth.

This trail is a favorite for motorcycles and horses so always be alert as you head down.
