Description

The Farewell trail connects the Tumalo Falls area to the upper Mrazek trail. It is somewhat uncharacteristic of Bend area trails, as the bottom half is somewhat steep and narrow side-hill singletrack. It can get loose and dusty in the summer.

From the bottom, Farewell climbs up via switchbacks with the sound of Tumalo Falls in your ears. After a long side-hill climb, the trail passes through some open rocky areas with beautiful views of Broken Top and the Three Sisters, and wildflowers in the early summer. The trail then climbs more gradually into the woods and up to the junction with Mrazek.

Riding down Farewell is not the usual swoopy, smooth Bend singletrack. Once it gets dry and loose it takes a bit of concentration and keeping speed under control to stay on the trail. While not particularly technical, it can make riders not used to side-hill trails nervous.
