On MTB Project
Make your own ride.
Route Builder lets mountain bikers trace singletrack, doubletrack and connectors into a single route — with stats that build as you draw, so you know what you're getting into before you load the bike.

Build your own line
Draw the ride you actually want.
Quickly link singletrack, doubletrack and connector roads to build a custom route. Split it, reverse it or trace an out-and-back — it's your line.
No guessing after the fact
Watch the stats build as you draw.
Add a segment and the surface and difficulty breakdown update instantly. Know what you're really linking up before you commit.

Plan the day, not just the route
Know how long it'll take.

Questions
What you're probably wondering.
- When does Route Builder ship?
- We're validating the concept with riders right now. Everyone on the early access list gets first access when it's ready.
- Can I link up trails that aren't already mapped?
- Route Builder draws from MTB Project's and onX Maps' combined trail network, so you can trace across any mapped singletrack, doubletrack, connector or road. Freehand drawing off the network is available, too.
- Where do the surface and difficulty numbers come from?
- Each trail segment in MTB Project already carries a surface type and difficulty rating. Route Builder rolls those up as you link segments together.
- How accurate is the ride time estimate?
- It's a planning estimate based on distance, elevation and difficulty per segment, not a personal pace prediction (yet). Use it to compare routes and plan around daylight, not as a race clock.
- Will it work on mobile?
- Yes. Build a route from the desktop or app. Routes sync across devices, so you only have to map it once.
